2017-2018 “Rings in the New School Year” with Some Familiar Classes / Programs and Some Important Changes

Marlboro County Adult Education (MCAE) would like to welcome everyone to the “New School Year” and announce its fall 2017 schedule.  Most class schedules remain the same but some important test dates and times have changed.  Fall classes will begin at our main campus located at 215 Broad Street on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 8:00am.

Class schedules and programs are as follows:  MCAE main campus offers:  Adult Basic  Skills, GED preparation, high school diploma and WorkKeys preparation classes Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and night classes Monday & Thursday from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.  There is a $25.00 tuition fee for those students participating in the high school diploma and GED preparation classes.  Certain exceptions apply for the tuition fee so please contact the adult education office to see if you qualify. The Magic Johnson Center (computer lab) operates Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.  The Tutorial Lab is available to students Tuesday & Thursday from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.  WorkKeys testing is offered Tuesday & Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m by appointment only.  MCAE also operates the SC Virtual High School Program for students who wish to take high school classes online from the convenience of their own home.

MCAE is pleased to be more easily available and accessible throughout the county at our satellite centers.  The satellite centers open September 5, 2017. Class schedules and centers include:  Bennettsville Housing Authority -  Monday & Wednesday from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., Olive Crone Graham Center – Monday from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.,  Wallace Family Life – Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and Vocational Rehabilitation – Monday-Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  Other satellite centers consist of: McColl Elementary/Middle – Monday-Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and Wallace Elementary/Middle – Tuesday & Thursday from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.  MCAE is committed to making sure everyone in Marlboro County can take advantage of our classes and programs.

One important change that the “New School Year” brings is to the Pearson Vue / GED testing schedule.  The various tests will now be offered twice a month on Fridays from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
